We are the Earth-Intruders, We are the sharp-shooters - Amalynn Shadowguide & Spindle Drones

Eldar were actually my first serious army, in any game with miniatures at all, so I wanted to do something special with Amalynn Shadowguide, a model I thought was so close to being awesome, but had ended up a bit flat.

Don't Go Into the Jungle! - Pan Oceana Shock Army of Acontecimento, Part 1

Before working on this, it was actually a fair bit since I'd painted any Infinity guys, and it was a nice reminder how much I like the line (except for those flimsy antennae).

The Vanguard - Code Zero Anazi Dynasty Scouts (including review)

I had a lot of fun painting this unit from Garage Gaming's new Code Zero line. It's always pretty cool working with new lines others haven't already explored, and you can't get much newer than currently crowdfunding.

Colonial ConApts - Angry Mojo MDF Hive review & assembly tips

To start off, this is my first MDF kit that wasn't a prefab (...ironic, given the kits represent prefabs...). I have quite a bit of hobby experience, but Angry Mojo's "The Hive" MDF kit was new to me.

You Can't Hit Whatcha' Can't See! - Nomad Spektr

This was a fun little experiment- not quite so convincing on the black, but I still thought it was a cool mix of one part sky/earth NMM (which I always thought was a bit much), one part weird washes, lots of Ghost in the Shell and similar cyberpunk aesthetic influence.

Faces in a Crowd - Infinity Nomads

I was really happy with how I got the jade-white armor on these Nomads, continuing from an earlier set, and always enjoy working with the mixture of materials on Infinity models- I think they very often hit the right mark, where there's a sense of coherency in the layering.

I've been tempted by Infinity for a long time now, and the line's progression, and the sleek look they've gotten has been something where it feels like it's only a matter of time before jumping in. Operation: Icestorm may be the tipping point...

*Batteries Not Included - Infinity Nomads

It's rare that I start a post with the smallest model in a set, but π-well was my favorite from this set- I've always enjoyed Corvus Belli's little robots, and the orange and teal gave it a fun, playful look. I'm considering repeating this palate on some other lines to see how it comes out.

"Things Have Turned a Deeper Shade of Blue" - Infinity Aleph

Another set of Infinity models- Corvus Belli's style of detail is growing on me, and I think I'm getting them better and better.

Copy, Blue Leader. - TRON-inspired YuJing (part 2)

Normally I save the proverbial big guns for last, but I was just too happy with this guy not to lead with my favorite. This may be the cleanest sculpted and best cast large model I've ever worked with, which made it a lot of fun to paint.

Your Move, Flynn! - TRON-inspired YuJing

The request to do a set of minis based on TRON's art style was a challenge I looked forward to.

Starting off with subtle shading and a strong focus on the glowing lines was, while faithful to the style, and likely to look good in all gloss, not the best translation to miniatures. The crisp edges, and a little more liberal shading quickly improved this.
