Now the Darkness Got a Hold on Me - Huron Blackheart conversion

While the Astral Claws are easily my favorite chapter, and Huron is also one of my favorite characters, I think the stock model for Huron Blackheart is just... dumpy.

So, of course, I needed to do something about that.

I Wanted to Build an Empire to House the Machine to Kick His Ass - Astral Claws Armenneus Valthex

So, I decided not to let it stop me that Valthex has one of the dumpiest and most static character models that Forge World has ever produced.

(Next time, I'll tell you what I really think ;) )

Starting Small - Test Tyrant's Legion / Death Korps squad

My first Imperial Guard collection was the original Armageddon Steel Legion released in third edition the regiment raised to defend the system's central world, and I guess I'm finally returning to my roots.

Big Guns Never Tire - Astral Claws Devastators

Huron's "Though my guards may sleep and my ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that the big guns never tire" is one of the more memorable 40k quotes IMHO, despite being a bit silly these years later. I'm pretty sure it had at least a little to do with my eventual choice of Astral Claws.

Self-Propelled Artillery - Astral Claws Mortis Dreadnought

This was a fun guy to work on- my favorite part of the Astrals Claws aesthetic is the mix of functionalism and ornamentation, and I think I hit it nicely on Amru, with a pretty basic blocky look, but the gold trim and imperial skull honor marks across the "shoulders."

Following Safety Protocols - Astral Claws plasma tactical squad

Just a fun little combat squad today. My favorite's definitely the veteran plasma gunner with bionics (the head's obvious, but his left arm is also from the Iron Hands set).

If You Can't Beat 'em, Join 'em - Astral Claws Bikes

I resisted these guys for a long time, but they're so damn useful, and even have fluff/mechanics connected to Astral Claws. So, yeah... I eventually caved.

"Stop! H--" ...Actually, no, I'm still not going there. - Astral Claws Terminators.

In my opinion, terminators have some of the most iconic profiles in 40k, so it was only a matter of time before my Astral Claws force got some.

"I’m trying to get you brown, man, but you still green" - Astral Claws Scouts

Just a quick one today. I thought these guys came out pretty nicely. The sergeant is one of the old metal scouts, and I felt that the different hair and face style set him off (though you can't see his grey hair from the front), and the different pose made him fairly unique. I mostly run my marines with Guard, but I guess these guys will be nice for a cheap unit in smaller games/as allies, if I want a rear unit.

A little miffed that the Astral Claws got a kind of dumpy chapter Tactic instead of being able to run them as Ultramarines so that means no super sergeant, but, w/e. I've always liked snipers.

Hunting the Hunters - Magnetized 2nd edition Predator Destrouctor/Annihilator

I'm a big fan of the versatility represented in the Predator builds, be it tank hunter or anti-infantry/light vehicle (though I'm not a fan of mixed weaponry).

No Skool Like It - Rogue Trader Astral/Tiger Claws

Old, forgotten, out of their time, maybe a bit messed up, presumed dead. No, I'm not talking about GW's original RT line, I'm talking about the Tiger Claws.
