Pepito, the Biggest Death Marshal in the Whole-Wide-World - Hannah Conversion & Tactics

I've done a lot of looking at and re-thinking Hannah and decided that I consider her one of Tara's thematic bunch: Tara was narratively Friekorps, and Hannah has Void-related abilities connected to Horror and Bury mechanics. Also, she can already work in either faction, and isn't seriously limited by not getting her Upgrade out of faction. So...

Woe is Me - Neverborn Clear Sorrows, plus mini-tutorial on clear plastics

The limited edition clear plastic crews Wyrd released really gave me a reason to get Pandora, who I'd largely ignored in the past, since I didn't like her metal crew's aesthetic.

...And This is Your Drug on Brains - Malifaux Lynch crew

So, with my first and second set of these guys, I did something more traditional, but with this, I feel like I've had enough practice with the minis that I could do something more out there.

Faces in a Crowd - Infinity Nomads

I was really happy with how I got the jade-white armor on these Nomads, continuing from an earlier set, and always enjoy working with the mixture of materials on Infinity models- I think they very often hit the right mark, where there's a sense of coherency in the layering.

I've been tempted by Infinity for a long time now, and the line's progression, and the sleek look they've gotten has been something where it feels like it's only a matter of time before jumping in. Operation: Icestorm may be the tipping point...

THAT WAS A WEIRD ONE - Freehand/Creepypasta Land Raider

Another Land Raider in the Creepypasta sensibility- this one has the regular Multi-melta so a little less sleek of a look than the last, but the hunch on both profile illustrations nicely flows into it for a height that I think still works pretty well.

Range Finder - MYTH Archer and Yardu

I very often play a Ranger class in D&D and similar RPGs, so Myth's Archer was a natural first choice when picking a class, though it took me some time to get around to painting her.

Game Face - Arena Rex's LE Lupa

Arena Rex has some has some really strong, dynamic poses. Lupa is a strong example of this, with one of the best yelling faces I've seen on a mini, and a really nice charge and flow. While their line is a bit on the expensive side, they've got an exceptional line for such a new company.

Industrial Revolution - Mei Feng Tactics

In keeping with aggressive pose, Mei Feng is a powerhouse and anchor of her crew, which I quite enjoy, as I tend towards support commanders, so I'm very much in to the idea of a strong commander who can still run support a little.

She's got a bit of an odd character because, while she's a bouncing death ball and has some useful defensive support, it's her Henchman, Kang, who brings more of the power and offensive support to the crew.

Building Character- Vanguard Unique Models

Continuing with a more down-to earth Vanguard minis, with a batch of characters. I've always liked Kara, particularly her expression and prosthetic arm: Her scars have a lot of cool narrative weight that I don't often see.

Family Man - Arena Rex, Urbicus (& activation marker)

I'm saving a full Arena Rex review for the future, so, for now, I'll need to be satisfied with saying that Urbicus took paint well.

Waste Not, Want Not - Revenant color test

Another new incarnation (possibly a reincarnation?), this time, mostly going with dead flesh rather than anything particularly bloody.

"I See a Red Door and I..." - Black and Dark Non-Metallic Metal Painting Tutorial

So, for my first tutorial, I'm focusing on a favorite area of mine- I consider myself pretty proficient in lighting and contrast, so NMM techniques was a clear first option.

This tutorial will be primarily about working primarily with glossy blacks and NMM, though the techniques could be applied to most high-contrast techniques and I'll make a few notes throughout on how this can be adapted.

This also covers a few of my preferences on paints and techniques.

I'll be using a Studio McVey Sedition Wars mini as the basis for this demo.

Hunting the Hunters - Magnetized 2nd edition Predator Destrouctor/Annihilator

I'm a big fan of the versatility represented in the Predator builds, be it tank hunter or anti-infantry/light vehicle (though I'm not a fan of mixed weaponry).

B Squad Leader - Samaritan Color Test

After doing a kind of standard job with my own Samaritans, going with something strikingly different was a lot of fun. I'm not really sure what else to say on this- the paint job went very smoothly, even if it did come out a little brighter than the X-COM reference. More Sedition Wars dudes to follow...

Feelin' Blue - Kingdom Death Twilight Knight

The Kingdom Death line has done nothing but impress me, and the Twilight Knight was no exception.

Poser! - Mei Feng (and Emberling)

What started as a way of trying to figure out how a debris/base made sense has turned into one of my favorite projects, and my next tactics focus:

Blending In - Bolt Action BA-64 Armored Car

While I've done a lot of work influenced by historical armies, this is actually my first work on a historical vehicle (well, not counting poorly built model airplanes when I was a kid).

Double-shifts - Illustrations for the Dead Justice Death Marshal cards in m2e

I decided some time ago that Wyr'd cards were distinctly lacking a few, and now that I've had some experience getting them printed, I finally was up to tackling this design (and needed a break).

Black Operations - Storm Trooper test mini

I'd been toying with the idea to do some Storm Troopers, but hadn't really figured out what to do with the minis, until I started looking more into the Tyrant's Legion list, and their space-faring mercenaries.

More Man than Machine? Cthonian re-sculpt (also, Cthonian Assault Drone)

This has been a side project I've been working on ever since I finished my Grendlr conversion some time back. The Cthonian looks nice as a robot, but never really spoke to me as a giant evil pseudo-organic intelligence, which demanded a change.

Dance, puppet! - Collodi crew, continued

Starting with some of my favorites, the Effigies are some of Wyrd's coolest sculpts, and I always enjoy trying to link disparate elements through a continuing color scheme.

Adaptation - Two variant tarot cards

I'd never really been a fan of woodcuts until I encountered Lynd Ward's "Gods' Man: A Novel in Woodcuts" in a little used bookstore.

It's the Greatest Showtime! - Collodi crew

So, I wasn't really expecting it when I started, because Burlamacco was more silly than creepy, and Collodi was never my favorite Wyrd sculpt, but I think he's turned out to be one of the most sinister minis I've painted.
